Privacy
This page explains what happens to your information if you use the enquiry form on this website. It's separate from clinical confidentiality, which is set out on my contact page.
The short version
Filling in the form on my contact page sends me one email. Nothing is written to a database, a spreadsheet or a log. Analytics on this site is cookieless, so no consent banner is needed. The sections below set out the detail UK GDPR asks for.
The detail
Who is the data controller
I am the data controller for the personal information collected through this website.
What the enquiry form collects
The form on my contact page asks for your name, your email address, an optional phone number, who the enquiry is for (yourself, your child, your school, your organisation for workplace counselling, supervision or training), your message, and a checkbox confirming your consent to me holding that information in order to reply.
The lawful basis for using it
The lawful basis is your consent, given when you tick the consent box before sending the form. You can withdraw that consent at any time by asking me to delete what you've sent, using the details on my contact page.
If what you write is sensitive
The message field is free text, and what you choose to write may include details about your mental or physical health. Under UK GDPR this can count as special category data, which needs a further legal basis on top of ordinary consent. I rely on your explicit consent to that too, given through the same consent checkbox, since you are choosing to share that detail with me directly in order to get help.
Where your information goes
Submitting the form sends me a single email. It does not write anything to a database, spreadsheet, log or any other store. There is no separate record of your enquiry anywhere on this website once that email has sent.
How long I keep it
The email is the only copy of what you've sent me.
Cookies and analytics
This website uses cookieless analytics. It does not store anything on your device, and because no cookie or similar tracking technology is used, no cookie consent banner is needed.
Other parties involved
This site is hosted on Vercel. Enquiry form submissions are sent to me using an email delivery service called Resend. Both process your message in order to deliver it to me.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to ask what information I hold about you, to have it corrected if it's wrong, to have it deleted, to object to how it's used, and to ask for a copy of it. Since the only information I hold is the email you sent, most of these are straightforward: ask, and I'll act on it.
If you want to complain
If you're unhappy with how your information has been handled, tell me directly first so I can put it right, using the details on my contact page. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Confidentiality in sessions
This page covers the enquiry form only.
- What confidentiality means once counselling begins, including the safeguarding exception, is set out in full on my contact page.
